Kob

Kobus kob thomasi

The Ugandan kob is a subspecies of the kob native to Uganda, South Sudan, and northeastern DRC, and the national antelope of Uganda. Males are recognizable by their lyre-shaped, heavily ridged horns; both sexes share the species’ characteristic white throat patch, white eye-rings, and black stripes down the front of each foreleg. Kob prefer short, green pasture near water — a profile that suits our bahia and bermuda grasslands well. Our herd is young and growing, and we’re closely tracking conformation and social behavior as the group establishes itself on the ranch.
